IPL 2023

The 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) was the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 cricket league played in India. The tournament was organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and was held from 29 April to 29 May 2023. Star Sports broadcast the tournament in India. 

 Defending champions Chennai Super Kings failed to qualify for the finals, while Gujarat Titans won their maiden title by defeating Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in the final. 

 IPL 2023 was a record breaking season and several new milestones were achieved. Gujarat Titans became the first team to win the tournament in their debut season, while Hardik Pandya became the first player to win the player of the tournament award as captain.  

 The tournament was also notable for the performances of several young players. Yashasvi Jaiswal of Rajasthan Royals became the youngest player to score a 50 in the IPL, while Tilak Varma of Mumbai Indians became the youngest player to score a hundred.

The BCCI is already planning the future of the IPL and they have announced that the tournament will expand to 10 teams from the 2024 season. This means that more teams have a chance to compete for the championship and it also makes the tournament more competitive. 

  IPL is also becoming more and more popular worldwide. The tournament is now broadcast in more than 200 countries and the IPL is watched by more than a billion people every year. This global popularity will only increase in the coming years and the IPL will become one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
